With the start of school, the ongoing work on the house, and a grandparent in the hospital, I have been unable to get to the gym for a couple of weeks. So yesterday when a small window of opportunity opened, I jumped.
It is a well-known fact in my household that Mama is not happy with her figure. Although I have managed to lose 15 lbs since Christmas, I still have about 20 to go before I reach my goal. Most of those pounds reside in my midsection.
There have been many jokes about my squishy middle over the months since the birth of my youngest. My older daughter likes to use me as a pillow because I’m more comfy than my skinny counterpart. It’s also fun to make Mama jiggle.
Despite all this fun, however, everyone understands and supports my desire to be less jiggly. And after I returned from the gym yesterday, I got a helping hand. Quite literally.
While sitting on the couch, I made some comment about my middle. My older daughter then told me to lie down on the floor. I complied with this request. She kneeled down beside me and began pushing down on my stomach. When I asked what she was doing, she told me that she was helping me make it flat.
We should all be so lucky.
